The Impulsive Self

Toddler

I am my impulse!!!

A child begins to walk, to talk, to discover self and other. A child moves from the emeshed relation between itself and caretaker towards an identity as a member within a family system. Not yet rational or logical, the impulsive self perceives and responds to the world through emotion. Entirely egocentric, all actions are motivated by impulse.
