Primal Faith

The Incoporative Self

Sleeping Baby

The faith journey begins in utero: a symbiotic relationship between fetus and mother revealing the soul's first perceptions of his or her life. Birth heralds a direct encounter with an environment of new sights, sounds, smells, temperature, tastes, textures and unbound encounters beyond the safe and confining womb.

Primal faith exists before language, it manifests as a kinesthetic form of trust, security and loyality for and with the environment we have come into. Clearly the degree of welcome an infant experiences in their environment reinforces or errodes this primary level of faith. Not yet able to distinquish the boundaries of where self and other begin and end, the newborn experiences its environment as a fluid contiuum of self. Thus completely submerged in all sensations, the infant is its experience.
