Synthetic Conventional Faith

The Interpersonal Self

I see you seeing me: I see the me I think you see.

Reflecting Selves

You see you according to me: You see the you you think I see.

Moving past exclusive relation with family, the child/adolescent now pursues and establishes close empathic friendships with her/his peers. At this stage, a person's self has become defined by its place within the web of social connection. Faith follows this new capacity for relation. God becomes the friend and companion who understands and knows us completely. This stage is marked by a deepend trust and reliance on God as an ally. Rather anthropomorphic in perception, the comprehension of Deity follows this experience ofsocial attachments.
